Choosing the right Dodge truck?

I am either going to get a new 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Mega Cab 4×4 with a hemi, or a new 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab 4×4 with the 5.9 liter Cummins Diesel. They are both automatics, with the SLT trim package. The diesel is one that still has the old 5.9 liter cummins in it, not the new 6.7. I commute 45 miles 7 days a week to work and school, mostly highway. I often pull either an 8 foot trailer and 1 atv or a 16 foot trailer with 3 ATVs. Also I do a lot of hauling around a commercial mower. Currently I have a Dodge Dakota Laramie that I bought new 1 year ago, it is a V-8 4×4, but it is just not big enough. So which one of those two would you choose from?

Go for the diesel. You drive far enough to get it warm each day and you certainly tow enough to warrant the diesel. With the diesel you’ll enjoy better mileage and better performance for a vehicle of this size. A loaded hemi is a dog compared to the Cummins. Be glad you’re getting the 5.9 too.

Also come over to http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/ for good information on the Cummins and the Dodge in general.

I have a 2007 5.9 Quad Cab 4×4 with a 6 speed. I’m getting right at 20 mpg and its a lot of fun to drive. Theres a guy I work with that has a Quad Cab 4×4 automatic with a hemi and his truck isn’t nearly as fun. Sure it can pull the same loads (kinda) but it won’t do it as fast and it gets horrible mileage at the same time. Don’t listen to the comment about the PowerWagon either. Its a nice truck but your still stuck with the hemi.
