Extra Clean Great
Am I being taken advantage of? I am a residential cleaner and people let me do all kinds of extra stuff?
BUT NEVER TIP!! They are so happy to come home to find that I had done the 3 loads of laundry that I saw that needed to be done or unloaded the dishwasher they left running that morning and all kinds of things, One lady even has house remodeling done right before she knows its her cleaning day so that I am left to clean up the mess yet again NO TIPS for the extra hard work…. No Christmas present no nothing….
I do extras because I like to help out and I want to make them happy yet I believe if I had a great cleaner like me I’d have to tip her every now and then if nothing else then at Holiday… How do you get the “Tipping is ok message across?”

Yes, I do think you’re being taken advantage of. If people expect you to do extra work, let them know in advance that there there is an EXTRA charge. That extra charge will be your tip. Unfortunately, many people do not tip. However, to get by that I think by letting them know in advance that extra work is not covered under your regular work and that there is additional charge, they will understand and even respect you for it. You’re doing an honest day’s job, but the extra work deserves $$$$
You may want to create some brochure or cards listing the charges for basic work and for extra work. Yes, you ask for the extra money! You do the hard work and you deserve it. Don’t ever let anyone take advantage of you. Stop doing things just to be nice. It does not get you anywhere. Be smart about it and think with $$$ especially since this is your business! There’s one thing being nice, but be a nice SAVVY business woman and ask for the extra money for the extra work and don’t be shy about it.
